Brazil’s Chancellor in Europe to Discuss US and EU Subsidies

This week the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Relations, Celso Amorim, will visit England and Switzerland to discuss the progress of negotiations in the sphere of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

He is in London today, where he is meeting with representatives of India, the United States, and the European Union to discuss this matter.

According to his schedule, Amorim will be in Geneva tomorrow for informal encounters – coordinated by the director-general of the WTO, Pascal Lamy – on the current phase in the round of negotiations.

While in Geneva he will fulfill other commitments. On Wednesday, November 9, Amorim will preside over the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of 20 (G-20). At this meeting representatives of 20 developing countries that have a special interest in agriculture will make an assessment of the negotiations on agricultural issues in the context of the WTO.
