Brazilian Industry Laments Palocci’s Resignation and Calls for Serenity

Brazil’s National Industrial Confederation (CNI) lamented this Monday, March 27, the resignation of Antonio Palocci from the Brazilian Ministry of Finance.

According to the note, the ex minister conferred a serene and balanced attitude to the conduction of the economic policy.

The note emphasizes the positive aspects of Palocci’s administration and its international recognition. And it classifies as undesirable the "environment of instability and uncertainty" generated by facts that occurred prior to his heading the Ministry.

CNI believes it is important that President Lula reaffirms his commitment to preserving certain guidelines of the economic policy, and that both the country and the market receive the Minister’s replacement with serenity.

In other economic news, the Secretary of the National Treasury, Joaquim Levy, asked to be released from his position, this Tuesday, March 28, and accepted the invitation to integrate the Vice Presidency of Finance and Administration of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

According to a note issued by the Press Service of the Ministry of Finance, the new Minister of Finance, Guido Mantega, has already accepted Levy’s request.
