ATTENTION US CITIZENS:
Effective immediately, the Visa Processing Fee for all American Citizens travelling to Brazil has been increased.
We regret to inform that, because the United States Government has increased the fee it charges Brazilian Citizens applying for a Visa to the US from US$65 to US$100, the processing fee for American Citizens wishing to apply for a Visa to Brazil has likewised increased to US$100.

Message: One would think that with the gradual increase in these fees, someone would eventually wisen up and start lowering it $10.00 at a time to get it back down on both sides. Of course, that's our great leaders' jobs... not mine.
Still sucks though, huh?

Message: Don't you get it? It's a scam.
Both Brazil and the U.S. claim that they have a "reciprocal policy" where they only charge a fee when the other country charges one. The catch is they both suggest that it was the other country who started charging first with that language. This way, someone on both sides is lining his pockets with your money.
Why would these politically powerful people give up money by reducing the fee? Out of fairness? Hahahahahahaha
