Brazil’s Gol Reduced Fares Flying High

Gol, Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes, Brazil’s low-fare, low-cost airline, is celebrating the success of its fare realignment, which offers customers reduced fares on air travel of up to 56%.

Since the realignment was announced on March 7,Gol has sold 170 thousand more tickets than its average sales volume. This initiative is consistent with Gol’s yield management policy, which aims to maintain high load factors.

“Through this initiative Gol is reinvesting in its virtuous cycle. Lower costs allow for lower priced fares and higher booking levels, which increase profitability.

“This cycle stimulates the market, improves the Company’s results and allows us to reinvest cost savings in favor of our customers,” says Constantino de Oliveira Junior, Gol’s CEO.

“In stimulating demand, this initiative also reaffirms our commitment to popularizing air travel in Brazil.”

The fare realignment supports Gol’s low cost, low fare strategy, which it originally introduced to Brazil four years ago. Minimum fares are only valid for tickets sold on the Internet; all fares are in compliance with DAC (Brazilian Civil Aviation Department).

Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes, a “low-cost, low-fare” airline, is one of the most profitable and fastest growing airlines in the industry worldwide.

Gol has a simplified fleet of 29 Boeing 737s with a single-class of service. Gol has one of the youngest and most modern fleets in the industry with low maintenance, fuel and training costs, and high aircraft utilization and efficiency ratios.

In addition, safe and reliable services, which stimulate Gol’s brand recognition and customer satisfaction, allow Gol to have the best cost-benefit service in the market.

Gol currently offers service to 39 major business and travel destinations in Brazil and Argentina. In 2005, Gol plans to grow by increasing frequencies in existing markets and adding service to additional markets in both Brazil and other high-traffic South American travel destinations.
