Brazil’s Embraer Sells 4 Jets to LOT Polish Airlines

Brazil’s Aircraft maker Embraer announced today that LOT Polish Airlines has converted four Embraer 170 options from their original contract into four firm orders for Embraer 175 aircraft.

Deliveries are scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2006. LOT’s Embraer 175s will carry 82 passengers.

The Polish company was the first carrier to operate the Embraer 170 in Europe. LOT’s revenue service with the Embraer 170 began in March 2004. This week, LOT took delivery of its tenth Embraer 170 in a closed ceremony held at the headquarters of Embraer.

“LOT’s selection of the Embraer 175 is a testimony of the airline’s confidence in our products, and we are honored about this choice. Sharing above 95 percent communality with the Embraer 170, the Embraer 175 will continue meeting LOT’s stringent requirements for cost efficiency, high levels of comfort and functionality,” said Maurício Botelho, Embraer President and CEO.

“The Embraer 170s and Embraer 175s are pivotal elements in our business plan to support our network expansion from the Warsaw hub,” said Marek Grabarek, LOT CEO, who came to Brazil to firm up the options.

“These aircraft give us more seat capacity and range, which will enable us to access new markets,” added Grabarek.

LOT Polish Airlines also operates 14 50-seat ERJ 145s. The carrier still retains seven options for Embraer 170s, which may be converted into Embraer 175s, Embraer 190s or Embraer 195s.
