Brazil’s Embraer Delivers 60 Jets and Gets 78 New Orders

Embraer, Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, announced the delivery of 60 aircrafts in the first half of this year, where 30 in the period from January to March, and the other half during the second quarter.

In the first six months, last year, the company met 66 orders. Up to the end of 2005, the company plans on delivering 145 aircrafts in total, against 148 in 2004.


Of the airplanes delivered in the first semester, 53 were commercial jets, five were of the executive kind and two jets were for the defense sector, in this last case, Embraer only discloses information about aircrafts directed to the transportation of officials.


Amongst the commercial planes, two ERJ 135, for 37 passengers were delivered, as well as 31 ERJ 145, which can take up to 50 passengers, and 20 Embraer 170, which can hold between 70 and 78 seats. The deliveries of the Embraer 170 started this year.


The company also informed they received during the second quarter of the year 58 new orders for the family Embraer 170/190 from companies Tame Lí­nea Aérea del Ecuador, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Lot Polish Airlines, Copa Airlines, Flybe and Gecas.


In the half, the company received 72 new orders for the 170/190 family and six for the ERJ 145 family. The 170/190 family includes four airplanes. The largest one, the Embraer 195, may carry up to 118 passengers. The only one that is already being commercially operated, however, is the Embraer 170.


The company currently has, in the commercial aviation sector, 413 firm orders in their portfolio, where 67 are of the ERJ 145 and 346 of the 170/190 family.


Its portfolio, according to the company, reached the value of US$ 10.9 billion on the 30th of June this year. On the 30th of June 2004, the total was of US$ 10.5 billion.


The company that has the greatest number of awaiting orders is Jet Blue, from the United States, having ordered 100 Embraer 190. Saudi Arabian Airlines, in its turn, ordered 15 Embraer 170.
