Telecenter with 16 Computers: A Brazilian Gift to Angola

As it has already done in São Tomé e PrÀncipe, and Cabo Verde, Brazil has now donated a telecenter to Angola, another member of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).

The Angola telecenter has 16 computers with broadband Internet connections. It can be used for distance learning and is aimed at low-income people who can use the computers without charge.

The telecenter can also provide courses in computer use and special workshops. The donation was made at the 10th ministerial meeting of the CPLP.

The telecenters are the result of a partnership of the Brazilian Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro), the Institute of Information Technology and the Ministry of Foreign Relations. In Brazil there are now 150 telecenters in operation.
