Brazil’s Lula Meets With Mexico’s Fox in Argentina

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will attend, today, at 4:30 PM, the opening of the 4th Summit of the Americas, in the Argentinean city of Mar del Plata.

The purpose of the meeting, which will gather heads of State and government from 34 countries on the American continent until tomorrow, November 5, is to discuss job creation to deal with poverty and strengthen democratic governability. The economic integration of the three Americas should also be a topic of discussion.

Immediately following the opening ceremony in the City Auditorium, Lula and the other leaders will attend a show of music and folklore produced by the Argentinean choreographer, Pepe Ciprián. Then they will transfer to the Hermitage Hotel to participate in the first plenary session of debates on the topic "Creating Decent Employment."

At 7 PM Lula will receive the president of Mexico, Vicente Fox. Lula’s final official engagement today will be at 9 PM, when he joins the other continental leaders at a dinner offered by the President of Argentina, Nestor Kirchner, in the Central Cassino.

The Brazilian President is scheduled to arrive in Mar del Plata at 1 PM, accompanied by the ministers of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, and Institutional Relations, Jaques Wagner, among other guests. Their flight from Brasí­lia is set to depart at 10 AM.
