Brazilian Minister in the US Spreading the Brazilian Way to Bioenergy

Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply, Roberto Rodrigues, will address a World Bank seminar today, April 25, in New York about Brazil’s experience in ethanol production and the possibility of transferring this experience to other countries.

Brazil is the world’s largest producer of alcohol obtained from sugarcane. According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, the World Bank asked Brazil to present a proposal applicable to other countries, particularly ones in Asia and Africa.

The minister’s agenda in the US includes a meeting with the chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, Saxby Chambliss, a roundtable discussion at the City Club, in Washington, D.C., and an encounter with the US Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Johanns, to discuss topics of mutual interest in the agribusiness sector.
