Brazil Intent on Promoting Cattle Genetics Overseas

Hereford bull from Brazil
Apex-Brasil, the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency, together with the Brazilian Association of Hereford and Braford (ABHB) announced that they are going to sign an agreement for the commercial promotion of the genetic material of the two breeds abroad.

The agreement should be signed on the 31st at Expointer, an agricultural fair that takes place in the city of Esteio, in Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil's southernmost region.

The objective behind the agreement, according to a press statement by both organizations, is to foster semen, embryo, reproduction, matrix and agricultural input exports, as well as promoting the image of Brazil as a producer of quality bovine genetics.

At Expointer, the joint project should bring foreign importers and journalists to learn about national production. According to a press statement, negotiations between both organizations started in last year's edition of the fair.

Apex already has an agreement of the kind with the Brazilian Zebu Breeders Association (ABCZ), headquartered in Uberaba (MG), called Brazilian Cattle Genetics. The program is turned to Zebu breeds.
