Doha-São Paulo Daily on Qatar Airways’s Boeing 777s

Qatar Airways Qatar Airways, starting in June, will operate daily flights between Doha and São Paulo. The announcement was made by the airline marketing vice president, Taco Nieuwenhuijsen, to the minister of Tourism of Brazil, Luiz Barretto, and to Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur) president Jeanine Pires.

They were both in Berlin, Germany, participating in the ITB, Berlin’s international travel fair.

The flights leaving the city of São Paulo will have a stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to the licence granted by ANAC to Qatar Airways.

“South America is a great example of our strategy to expand destinations from our centre in Doha, Qatar. With the growth of Brazil and Argentina, we can finally say that Qatar Airways has become a global airline, reaching all parts of the world, and just 13 years after having started our operations as a small regional company,” said Akbar Al Baker, the company’s CEO, during the event.

The route should be operated in a Boeing 777, for 250 passengers. According to information provided by a company representative in Brazil, the times of the flights have not yet been defined.

With the objective of further expanding travel connections between Qatar and Brazil, in May, Embratur should promote seminars about Brazil for agents and travel operators in Doha.
