Brazilian Embraer’s 20-Year Forecast

Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer, based in the city of São José dos Campos, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, announced on Friday, November 19, its forecasts for the regional jet market (with capacity for between 30 and 130 passengers) for the next 20 years.

The company forecast is that the sales worldwide should total around 7,800 of these aircraft up to 2024, with a turnover of US$ 170 billion.

This is the sector in which Embraer operates. Among the list of airships produced by the company is a series of jets with capacities for between 37 and 118 passengers.

According to the company, between 2005 and 2014 around 3,200 aeroplanes of the kind should be purchased, and the remaining 4,600 should be bought between 2015 and 2024.

The company expects the market for jets for between 30 and 60 passengers, the market sector for the ERJ 145 family, a very successful aircraft sold by Embraer, which the company released in the 1990’s, will shrink.

On the other hand, the company bets on growth on the market for aircraft for between 70 and 110 passengers, the profile of the new Embraer 170/190 family, recently released by the company.

Embraer believes that the United States should continue, during the next 20 years, as the largest market in the sector.

The USA should absorb around 53% of this kind of aircraft in the period, followed by Europe, Africa and the Middle East (26%); Asia and the Pacific (6%); China (8%); and Latin America (7%).

In the area of executive aviation, Embraer forecasts that the market should acquire 7,650 aircraft in the next 20 years.

“This is the same amount forecasted by most producers in the market,” stated the company, which produces Legacy corporate jets.
