Brazil and Argentina Go to War on the Soccer Field

Following three weeks of intense quarterfinal matchups, the 2004 Copa Sudamericana enters its semifinal stage on Wednesday, when the remaining four teams will battle each other for a shot at advancing into the finals.

Fox Sports en Espanol begins its live action telecasts of the Copa Sudamericana semifinals from La Bombonera in Argentina on Wednesday, November 24 at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT) featuring Boca Juniors of Argentina against visiting Internacional of Brazil.


In what was one of the most exciting matches of the tournament, Boca Juniors edged out Cerro Porteí±o of Paraguay in a penalty shoot-out to advance into the semifinals, while Internacional advanced by triumphing over Colombia’s Atletico Junior in their quarterfinal matchup.


The second game between Boca Juniors and Internacional will air live at 6:30 p.m. (ET)/3:30 p.m. (PT) on Wednesday, December 1, when Internacional plays host to visiting Boca from the Estádio Beira Rio.


Despite the success of Boca Juniors and Internacional in this tournament, both teams have been struggling in their regular league play.


Boca Juniors are currently in ninth place, while Internacional is looking to improve on their 11th place position.


On Thursday, Fox Sports en Espanol will telecast the second semi-final match up; live, starting at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT), with LDU Quito of Ecuador facing Bolivar of Bolivia. The second leg of this semifinal match up takes place on Tuesday, December 2 at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT).


Fox Sports en Espanol will televise live and exclusive coverage of the Copa Sudamericana finals beginning on Wednesday, December 8.
