Brazil Puts Leadership on Stage in New York Ahead of Cop30

A preview of major topics to be discussed at COP30 takes place later this month in New York City. As global leaders prepare for the world’s most important climate conference, which will be held this year in the Amazon, diplomatic and business elites are gathering in the United States to warm up the debates.

The Brazil Climate Summit NYC 2025, a high-level meeting scheduled for September 19 at Columbia University, is poised to be a decisive moment. The event’s keynote speaker is the president of COP30, Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago.

In his address, Corrêa do Lago is expected to offer a glimpse of Brazil’s vision for the summit, framing it not merely as a discussion but as a direct pathway to the most critical climate decisions of the decade.

This is the fourth edition of the Brazil Climate Summit NYC and will take place just ahead of Climate Week NYC and the UN General Assembly, which attracts influential crowds. Investors, top financial professionals, corporate executives, and government officials will all be present, drawn by the promise of tangible and scalable climate solutions.

The event will address Brazil’s position in the shifting landscape of geopolitics and climate, aiming to move beyond abstract goals and focus instead on concrete challenges and opportunities shaping our future.

“In this edition of the Brazil Summit, we will highlight positions from the Brazilian private sector and underscore the country’s ability to offer real alternatives for meeting global emission reduction targets,” emphasized Marina Cançado, founder of Converge Capital and co-founder of BCS, who will moderate one of the panels.

Key themes guiding the event’s panels include changes in Brazil’s carbon market and the country’s path toward green steel leadership, reflecting its strategic role in the energy transition.

Also highlighted are discussions on systemic investment and climate technology, such as unlocking and de-risking climate finance for emerging markets, Brazil’s potential in low-emission transportation and maritime fuels, and innovations for climate-resilient agriculture.

Throughout the day, ten discussion panels will feature more than 25 participants, including investors, entrepreneurs, CEOs of financial institutions, and philanthropic organizations.

“By fostering international cooperation and business, we aim to solidify Brazil as a reliable partner for the entire world,” said Luciana Antonini Ribeiro, partner and CEO of the climate vertical at eB Capital and chair of the Brazil Climate Summit NYC 2025.
