The SRB (Brazilian Rural Society) is going to promote a seminar in the first quarter of 2009 whose objective is to propose a new model of agricultural policy for the country. The event should count on the participation of representatives of the entire agribusiness productive chain - the private initiative and government.

Except that the article is full of crap...on purpose...to hide the much bleaker and untold truth !
And as stated if it is "harder and harder to pay agricultural debts to the financials system." just refer to my comments on infrastructure in another thread.
By having the World Highest Borrowing Rates...after inflation for your Government, it is even more accute for your banks lending filthy system.
Their base rates are of course the government rates.....PLUS PLUS PLUS PLUS PLUS....ending at astronomical rates for the borrower. Which is a proof of their total ineffiency and a proof of the green light and complicity from your government to allow such banking lending practices that are not even allowed in 100 % of the countries around the world.....not even in the most corrupted and/or poorest country in Asia or Africa !!!!
But applauded by LULA AND HIS GANG, AND APPLAUDED BY SO MANY JUNKIES ON THIS SITE...FOR ALREADY SEVERAL YEARS !
Brazil has the perfect model of failures that will surface time and again, time and again...every 4-5-6-7 years !

If there is one farmer I would not wish to be is a Mato Grosso farmer these days.
Just think about it on corn :
- Us$ 3,50 per bushel FOB port, or around Us$ 150.- per ton !
- Transportation costs only....from Mato Grosso to port is US$ 130.- or so.
- remains to pay bank interests charges, fertilizers, seeds, fongicides, pesticides, fuel, spare sparts, salaries, social costs, amortization !
DO YOUR MATHS...FOR THE BIG HOLE...FOR PRICES PAID TO FARMERS MINUS THEIR OWN COSTS !!!!!
- OK OK before the government subsidies !!!!!!!
Enjoy your brazilian farming. In Mato Grosso the farmers already stopped paying their bank interests and the interests due to Cargill, Bunge and the likes.
Tractors, sprayers and harvesters repossessions are EXPLODING !!!!!
Of interests : in Mato Grosso they need twice as much fertilizers per hectare than in Parana state ! And that is a full proof that soil in Mato Grosso is NOT as fertile as you continually read from your Government "experts" !
They are REAL EXPERTS IN....cheating, lying and hiding ! FOR SURE !
Reality is different ! Just read more the local news from grains producing states or municipalities, or from more specialized sources...AS I DO !!!!!
