Brazil Takes 30-Year Biofuel Experience to Energy Summit in the Middle East

Cavalcanti at center The Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo) is working to get a strong attendance from Brazil at the World Future Energy Summit, to be held from January 19 to 21 in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates. Last week, businessmen gathered at the headquarters of the organization for a lecture to promote the event.

In Brazil, the summit is being promoted by company Interaction Times, turned to international relations, which sought support from the Fiesp in order to promote the event and manage to take the highest possible number of participants to the summit.

According to a news story published on the Fiesp website, the director of the Department of Energy Infrastructure at the organization, Carlos Cavalcanti, is articulating with the Brazilian government an aggressive, institution-oriented participation in the event. The director himself is going to be one of the members of the mission.

Fiesp also intends to help organize meetings with high-technology companies and governments. "Brazil has a lot to contribute to discussions on future energy, turned to clean, environmentally sustainable sources," said Cavalcante, according to an article by Fiesp.

According to the director, the Brazilian biofuels program is the world's largest and most real, with over 30 years' experience. Cavalcanti also stated that the summit is going to be an opportunity for Brazil to clarify to other nations how the ethanol production process works.

Peçanha stated that summit represents a business opportunity
In the lecture for businessmen, the president at Interaction Times, Marcus Peçanha, stated that the summit is also going to be a good opportunity for generating business and learning about the energy sector from other countries.

The summit, an initiative of Masdar, a state-owned company in Abu Dhabi that is developing the Masdar City project, a fully planned and sustainable city, should attract around 100 speakers and 300 companies from 30 countries. During the three days of the event, proposals will be discussed concerning environmental preservation, global warming and energy reserves.

According to the organizers of the summit, Gary Gilmour and Rebecca Oxley, who came to Brazil early this month, investment in Masdar City total to US$ 15 billion for building a 640-hectare city. The aim is for it to become a sort of international cooperation program turned to solving great problems facing humanity, such as energy security, climate change and sustainable development.

Among the speakers in the summit in Abu Dhabi are the president of Brazil Ecodiesel, José Carlos Aguilera, and the executive director of Unica, Eduardo Leão. Companies interested in participating in the summit should get in contact with Interaction Times.
