Brazil Lends a Hand to Fight AIDS in Senegal

With the signing of a protocol of intentions for the transfer of anti-retroviral technology, Brazil and Senegal have taken the first step toward cooperation in combating AIDS.

The signing of the document took place at the end of the IV Brazil-Senegal Joint Commission meeting that began last Wednesday.

The two country’s Foreign Ministers also signed important agreements for political and economic development.

During the meeting, discussions were held on business and investment opportunities so as to increase bilateral trade.

Brazil and Senegal have also decided to expand relations in agriculture with emphasis on animal husbandry, veterinarian sciences and information exchange on farm production and techniques.

With regard to cultural affairs, talks were held on Brazilian participation in the III Festival of Negro Arts to be held in Dakar in 2006.
