Brazilian Exports Drop 17%

Brazil’s foreign sales totaled US$ 2.073 billion last week, 17.41% less than the US$ 2.510 billion exported one week earlier.

Since imports continued on practically the same level, with a reduction of only 1.84% from the week before, the trade balance in the third week of June was down 34.77% from the previous week.

The surplus for the week amounted to US$ 634 million, compared with US$ 972 million in the second week of June.

This raises the surplus for the month to US$ 2.274 billion and for the year to US$ 17.920 billion. The latter quantity represents a surplus US$ 4.523 greater than for the same period last year.

These general figures were released today by the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade.
