Investing in Brazil Is Investing in South America, Says Lula

Talking in São Paulo, where he took part in the Brazil & Partners: Investment Opportunities meeting, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva pointed out that investing in Brazil is also a way to invest in South America.

Addressing an audience of investors from 28 countries, Lula considered that South America is undergoing an integration process and mentioned various projects underway in the region, such as the construction of bridges, natural gas pipelines, hydroelectric plants, and highways between countries.

"We are carrying out one of the 21st century’s most important continental integration projects in the world."

He went on to say: "Investing in Brazil nowadays, unlike in the past, also means participating in a virtuous cycle of projects and opportunities hitherto absent in the formation of the region."

Lula said that Brazil spurns any attempt at hegemonic leadership in the integration process.

"Our optimism is based on the firm ground of studied decisions and a victorious process. We are making a benign transition from a past marked by stagnation to a cycle of genuine economic and social development."
