In 2020, loungewear was…well…pretty much it. Working from home, many of us had the luxury of only wearing professional wear from the waist up, giving us the rare opportunity to wear sweatpants to work. Comfort was the name of the game last year. This got us thinking, if I can be this comfy and cozy now in 2020, there has got to be a way to keep this level of comfort in my dress still somehow, right?
Enter: the teddy coat. A magical article of clothing that allows you to feel like you’re wrapped up in a blanket even when you’re out running errands. Here’s everything you need to know about these beautiful new additions to the fashion scene.
They are Super Comfy
First and foremost, here’s why we’re all loving the teddy coat right now: they’re ridiculously comfortable and incredibly cozy. Made from faux fur reminiscent of the teddy bear you had when you were a kid, these coats have a fuzzy, warm feel to them that makes them perfect for those chilly evenings in the dead winter and early spring.
This thick layer keeps you ultra-warm while you still look ultra-cool, and it envelops your whole body in what can only be described as a giant teddy bear hug all day long. Who doesn’t have the urge to wear their favorite blanket all around town?

The term “teddy bear” refers to only the material that these pieces are made from but in no way encompasses all of the different ways you can wear the fabric.

How to Style It
This is the coolest part about the teddy bear coat, and one of the many reasons so many people are obsessing over it: you can wear it with just about anything and everything.
If you’re just going out for a stroll or to do some grocery shopping, you can throw it on over your leggings and sweatshirt, joggers and turtleneck, or that cute matching tracksuit. Throw on your favorite comfortable pair of sneakers, and you’ve got an entire outfit that will look plenty put together.
Or, if you’re going to an event where you may have to walk or wait in the cold for a bit, it’s also totally acceptable to throw on over your lovely dress or jumpsuit and heel, or booties.
