Already in the US and Europe, Brazil’s Samello Wants More Room for Its Shoes

The Brazilian factory Samello, largest shoes manufacturer in the region of Franca, in the interior of the southeastern state of São Paulo, is going to take the latest novelties in masculine shoes to Motexha.

Motexha is a trade fair directed to the fashion sector that will take place between the 12th and 15th of September in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

“We are going to take the spring-summer collection, high quality products. We hope to open new clients and partners,” stated the exports manager at the company, Mauricio ívila.

Samello participates in fairs as part of a group of companies associated to the Shoes Association of Franca (Ascal).

Saudi Arabia and Oman are buying masculine shoes in leather from the manufacturer for about two years. According to ívila, the Arab countries still only represent a small share in Samello’s exports, which sells to 35 countries.

The company even manufactures shoes for international brands such as Cole Hann, Polo Ralph Lauren, HS Trask, Oakley, Fieramosca, Fairmount and Fratelli Rosetti.

The United States and Europe are the main importing markets from Samello. One of the products by the brand most sought for abroad, the original moccasins, sewn manually on the form, may cost up to US$ 150 to US$ 175 for the final buyer.

In Brazil, as well as the manufacturer distributing an exclusive collection with the Samello brand for the 28 franchised stores network, special lines are developed and manufactured for the brands Forum, Triton, VR, Crawford, Richards and Daslu.

Founded in 1926 in the city of Franca, Samello is currently national leader in the masculine shoes segment. The company was responsible for launching moccasins in the 1940s, the drivers in the 1970s, and the docksides in the 1980s.

Today Samello directs 45% of the production of 12,000 pairs per day to the external market. The company employs about 2,000 people in four factory units, two in Franca, in the interior of São Paulo, and two in Santa Rita, in the northeastern state of Paraíba.

The company counts also on the support of other companies of the group that produce soles and components, the MSM Produtos para Calçados Ltda and Vaccaro Componentes em Couro para Calçados.

Shoe Hub

Franca, located in the interior of São Paulo, counts on 500 shoes factories that generate about 23,000 direct jobs. The shoe hub already exports to more than 50 countries and the United States is the main importer.

According to information from the Ascal, in the first semester this year shoes exports from Franca have already yielded US$ 79.5 million.
