Brazil Petrobras’s Production Grows 10% to 2.3 Million Barrels a Day

Brazil’s state-owned Petrobras’s domestic production of petroleum and gas attained a daily average of around 2.016 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOEs) in November.

According to Petrobras’s press office, this result was 16.1% higher than in November, 2004, and up 1% in comparison with October, 2005.

The company’s global production abroad amounted to 252.062 barrels per day in November, 4% more than in October. The resumption of production in the south of Argentina contributed to this, according to the press office.

Counting both domestic and foreign production, Petrobras’s average daily production last month was 2.268 million barrels, 10% more than in November, 2004, and 1.3% more than in October, 2005.

Through November, Petrobras’s average daily production this year stands at 1.834 million barrels, around 1.678 million of them from domestic fields.

Rio de Janeiro is by far Petrobras’s leading source of oil and gas in Brazil, contributing a total of 1.574 million BOEs daily. Among foreign sources, Argentina is first, with 96,788 BOEs per day, followed by Bolivia, with 55.509.

The company’s press office also informed that, when oil production from domestic fields is considered separately, the daily average in November was 1.734 million barrels, 0.6% more than October’s figure of 1.723 million barrels.

Domestic natural gas production in November amounted to 44.8 million cubic meters per day, 3.4% more than in October.
